Sunday the same thing, but somewhat less so. Today Monday it’s supposed to be cloudy, cold, snow later, like evening or later, but really WHOP upside the head on Tuesday. Well, it’s 10am Monday and it’s snowing, but the radar says, no, it’s not snowing.
I don’t care except we’re very low on half and half. Coffee we have, but half and half is essential. Someone’s going to have to go out there. In foot unless the not-snow stops.

Furnace vacuum suckerman arrives and was quite pleasant and efficient. It was not the worst case he’s ever seen. Damn!

I finally got to see how they do it and what is really going on then you pass by someone’s house and see this truck with six or more giant black mushrooms puffing up, up, up.

It’s really pretty mundane. But it’s like watching “How things are made” in real life. Now, if someone would only nominate me for “What not to wear”.

How come the period is supposed to be inside the “. That seems weird to me.

Weather people can predict only so much because of our convergence zones and general uncooperative and sneaky weather patterns. But so what? We know it will snow most years, and sometimes in significant amounts, and sometimes in greasy ice sheets of slime. And it won’t melt the next day.

What’s amazing is, when the forecasters unleash the “S” word, the administrators and cogitators all run around their offices in a frenzy. Frenzies do not do anything to provide preparation for the “S”. And year after year, here comes the S and we’re unprepared.

Now, finally, they’ve decided salt can be used to deice streets. Unfortunately it only works if someone stays awake and actually checks the weather forecast for last minute updates. No one ever does. Seriously. Otherwise we wouldn’t have the huge messes we have when nature “S”s on us.

I’m not using quotes on all the S words, because I’ve used up my quota of quotes pretty much.

At this point they are not predicting any excess S, but around here it really can be minute by minute, mile by mile when it starts to come in.

I kid you not, I have been in buildings where it’s been snowing on the north side and raining on the south side, and vice versa. Convergence sounds kind of cool like that, very specific, except it’s nearly impossible to predict exactly where they are going to set up.

Seattle often has very greasy snow. It is nasty. And we have lots of hills. Having grownup in Wisconsin, I know how to drive on snow, ice and grease, but since most people around here are over-caffienated or simply can’t remember what S is, I tend not to go anywhere because they’ll slide into you.

Ok, that’s my dull post for this week.

PS: I’ve been through Iowa more than once. The aroma of the cattle death row pens is awakening. Having grown up in a tiny Wisconsin town, farm smells don’t bother me, but in this case mile after mile of cow poo and moo really kills the appreciation of the rolling countryside. Couldn’t they put them on the other side of the hill?

Another note, and no I’m not obsessive about breasts, actually prefer not too large, but I’m a liberal. More than once I have sauteed down the street of Dyersville and other notable Iowanian towns only to be awestruck by some sweet young thing with oddly large mammaries. Not by choice, it’s genetic. One wonders if those cow additives, BST? et al, might be getting into the local water.

I’m not pointing fingers, Lordie, no. We just had some Iraq vet go looney, shoot up the party in town, then go up to Mt. Rainier and take out a ranger, keep popping away at the incoming so they couldn’t be help to her. He finally dashed off into the woods–30 degrees, 2 foot deep snow. I don’t care how much of survivalist you are, if you leave your equipment back at the car, you’re pretty much toast. WHOA! MY BAD! You’re pretty much a popsicle.

Looks like he didn’t make it through the night, suicide or frozen, either way, how are we going to catch up with Texas for executing people if they don’t surrender alive?

And hence therefore and whatnot, Iowa caucases do your worst. One, no brainer, such a thrilling group of wannabes to choose from. Seriously, where were THESE guys and guyettes born?

Seattle was DRIER than most of the US for December! And still had enough cajones to get skiing snow at altitude.

Consider dashing into the lake tomorrow at 1 pm at matthews beach, air temp 45, water temp -455 approx. and if you contact me live and in person, you are welcome to hot tea, home made bread – soup, and helping clean the kitchen (it warms you up).

So I went to the old Larry’s Market on Aurora which was finally replaced by something, the HT or HM or something Market, which specializes in mass quantities of oriental, asian, pan-asian, modern asian, post-modern asian, sorta Indian, random Russian, and other ethnic sneezes. Walking down one of the aisles, even though everything was canned and contained I fainted from an overdose of MSG.

They do have an impressive confusion of fish species at decent prices, and also two aisles of oceanic beasts best watched on Nature, or Nova, or the Animal Planet (when food attacks or is so ugly as to cause immediate horking), or Anthony Bourdain who eats wart hog anuses, which are not fish. That sentence isn’t totally coherent because looking at these ‘offerings’ at the store is like putting your brain in a Cuisinart.

I am home now with some exploding rice (no waiting), and Katsuo Fumi Furikake (some kind of spice mix), and my most favorite: ARMY BRAND SARGEANT’S PORK PATE (aka Pasztet Serzanta) from Poland.

I need one more ingredient. Time is short. Where shall I look?

So my doctor is about 18, mixed race and gorgeous. She had a student shadowing her, the student was 40ish but when she heard we make our own Greek yogurt, she got very excited. (It’s easy to make with a crock pot.)
So I can breathe, that’s good; no funny sounds from the heart (still waiting on the ECG, EKG, whatever, but don’t expect any surprises)
Doc: “family history?”
Drfooms: arms fall off, heads explode, but our hearts go on forever. Dad’s side lived forever, Mom’s strokes.

Then I assumed the position.
You know, the position. Fairly goodnews, prostate slightly enlarged but no lumps or bumps.
So other than probably getting put on high blood pressure meds, I’m in ok shape.

Except, think about it, if you’ve got a hot female sticking her finger up your whoopdedoo,
wouldn’t your blood pressure be high too?

Old age, it’s not just for geezers anymore.

BUT Saturday morning we arrived early and I started cooking hashbrowns. I was a bit concerned because I had to hold them in the oven. I could not cook them all at once. But I did use my secret herbs and spices mix.
Then just before serving, let them get a bit crunchy under the broiler!

They were a huge hit. I even shared my secret herbs and spices recipe (which is also terribly healthful) with them. Now I can sue them if they publish it. Oh, wait, we’re Quakers, we don’t sue people. Well, my revenge would be the next time they’re in town I’d substitute crispy sauerkraut for hashbrowns.

Aw, geez, that could backfire, what if those turn out extra yummy?
